And users who have experienced the issue are sharing their frustrations on Apple's website with the hopes of finding an answer.
"I have heard a strange noise from my MBP, and am not sure if this is expected or not.
"Model is MacBook Pro 2016 with Touchbar, 15 inch, Radeon Pro 460, 2.9GhZ i7, 2TB SSD," Michael DN shared on the Apple Support page.
He continued to explain that the sound is a rare occurrence, as there are occasions when several days pass and he does not hear anything.
However, he also noted that there are instances when the pooping happened two to three times in just a half hour period.
"The sound is a single hollow 'popping' noise, similar to if you slowly squeeze a plastic bottle until it crinkles," Michael explained.
"The sound is not very loud, but clearly audible, and sounds as if it is coming from approximately behind the trackpad."
"I've had no other notable problems with this computer to date, have made no modifications to any hardware, or used it in any abnormal way."
Although many are stumped by the sound, some have offered up an opinion.
One user speculated that 'the problem is actually from the hinges', 9to5Mac reported.
They continued to suggest that heat is the culprit and it has "affected the glue or some plastic mount in the display assembly".
Another found that they themselves could "reproduce the sound by pressing right at the bottom of the screen assembly in the middle".
Some users have been in direct contact with Apple who is also unable to produce a single reason for the noise.
The sound is not very loud, but clearly audible, and sounds as if it is coming from approximately behind the trackpad.
One MacBook users took their device into an Apple Store to see what the problem was. "I took my laptop in to the genius bar for this popping noise. They said it is caused by this small dent on the bottom casing hitting the fan," users ACA25 shared in the forum.
"They told me I had to replace the entire bottom casing for $130."
"Not covered under warranty because its user inflicted damage / a wearable part."
"I really don't think that's the only problem. But hey... they're the 'geniuses." So check the bottom of your laptops."
Another responded noting they also hear the pop notice, but do not have a dent on their MacBook.
"There are many people who have pop noise on their macbook2016, and not everyone have a dent on their case," user titfromisere shared.
"Mine has pops, and case is perfect."
"If the dent would touch the fan, the noise should be permanent.
Here we have 3-4 pops when hearing up, and 3-4 pops when cooling dent."
The sound appears to be affecting multiple users, but does not seem to be causing any serious issues to the MacBook itself.
DailyMail.com has contacted Apple regarding the issue and has yet to receive a response.
