The founders of The Lucky Taco have set a lofty goal - the creation of a "global Mexican food brand".
The business, established by Sarah and Otis Frizzell, is rapidly expanding beyond its food truck that can be found on Ponsonby Rd and at outdoor events around Auckland.
Sarah Frizzell said the first production run of 3000 bottles of Lucky Taco hot sauce would take place this week at a contract manufacturing facility in the Hawkes Bay, where the company sources raw ingredients such as chillies.
The couple were previously bottling the hot sauce in a commercial kitchen in the garage of their Auckland home.
The sauce is being sold in chef Al Brown's eateries, including the Federal Street Deli and Depot, at the Shaky Isles cafes in Auckland and the Farro Fresh store in Grey Lynn.
