At 32, and on a trip to the States, Janine Allis realised the growing category for smoothies and juices was something she could tap into.
Fifteen years later and the founder of Boost Juices Allis is running a multimillion-dollar juice empire in Australia, is the executive director of its parent company Retail Zoo and an investor on reality show Shark Tank.
Boost Juice has turned over more than $2 billion in sales since it launched in 2000 and has more than 400 stores in 17 countries globally.
Allis said it all started with a simple idea and despite having no business background, she has grown the company significantly.
"Great ideas start with the line, 'Wouldn't it be good if'," Allis said. "For me it was, 'Wouldn't it be good if I could create a product or outlet that people could go to and make being healthy easy'. So that was the key motivation for Boost Juice and it's taken off from there."
