KEY POINTS:
Christchurch-based technology company Jade Software Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with an Indian partner.
The company is denying that the partnership the memorandum establishes with CMC Ltd (CMC), a publicly listed IT services company that is part of Indian industrial conglomerate TATA Corporation, is about outsourcing work to India.
Jade managing director Rod Carr said it had been seeking to establish a number of strategic relationships with partners to accelerate the rate of use and deployment of Jade technology and applications built in Jade.
CMC represented such an opportunity.
"This is not about outsourcing development to India. This is a genuine opportunity to synergise and leverage a great New Zealand technology, a rapidly growing Indian technology services company and address global opportunities," CMC managing director Ramanathan Ramanan said.
CMC was interested in applying Jade's products to data management in logistics, homeland security and other areas relevant to both the domestic Indian market as well as Asia, the Middle East, and North America, Dr Carr said.
The agreement formalised the relationship between Jade and CMC and provided consistency and focus for collaboration and co-operation.
CMC, which began life as IBM India, has 3500 staff and annual revenue in excess of US$275 million ($379m). It is based in Mumbai.
