One of New Zealand's biggest travel insurers will not cover Thailand-bound customers for incidents relating to the recent political unrest.
The Government's safe travel website has put a high risk warning on travel to Bangkok following the political unrest of the past week.
Michelle Boulger, the manager of Mike Henry Travel Insurance, says people who took out insurance after April 12, will not be covered for events such as medical costs and changes to travel plans that may arise from the political unrest.
People who took out cover before then, however, will be covered in most cases.
Nearly 800 New Zealanders have registered with the safe travel website as either visiting or living in Thailand.
