Waikato internet provider Wave has been sold to ihug, New Zealand's original internet pioneer.
The deal, for an undisclosed amount, was announced yesterday.
Wave has just under 10,000 customers mainly in Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
Ihug will now have a customer base of 120,000 subscribers to broadband, dial-up and telephone products.
The acquisition also includes Wave subsidiary PC Connect.
Ihug managing director Michael Malone said Wave would continue to operate under the brand name.
All dial-up and toll-free support numbers would remain in place and Wave customers would retain email addresses.
Wave, founded in Hamilton nine years ago, has been owned by Texas-based Pavilion Technologies Inc since 2000.
