Internet access company Iconz is offering customers high-security storage space for digital information via a partnership with storage system maker Hosting and Datacentre Services (HdS) and its databunker system.
Iconz and HdS, formerly Hitachi New Zealand, are pitching the deal for around $19.95 a month. It offers PC and notebook users remote access to a real-time system to back up, copy and store applications and data.
Iconz general manager Sean Weekes said thedatabunker.com was ideal for customers because it provided enterprise level data back-up and protection at reasonable prices.
For many people, loss of information on a computer was devastating.
"Thedatabunker.com is affordable, automatic and addresses the 'I always remember to do back-ups each evening' myth.
"We believe it is quite possibly the best insurance you can have, as it protects computer-based information against loss, theft, equipment failure and data corruption."
HdS business development manager Andrew Chapman said the databunker provided businesses such as Iconz with a plug-in-and-play value-add product.
Customers could bundle it as their own product, he said, and staff were unable to read what was stored because each message was encrypted.
