IBM surged in server market share last year, gaining at the expense of Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer as the overall market shrank, figures from Gartner show.
IBM's server revenue decreased from $US13.9 billion ($33.2 billion) in 2000 to $US13.6 billion last year, but because the overall market shrank faster - from $US55.6 billion to $US47 billion - IBM gained share.
