BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) Hungary wants its national oil company, MOL, to consider selling its 49 percent stake in Croatia's INA, the latest move in a dispute over bribery claims between the eastern European neighbors.
Croatia has reportedly issued arrest warrants for MOL Rt. chairman and chief executive Zsolt Hernadi. Hernadi is wanted over allegations he bribed Croatia's former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader in 2008, while Sanader was still in office, to gain control of INA.
Hernadi and MOL deny the allegations. Sanader is serving a 10-year prison sentence since being found guilty last year of accepting a bribe of 5 million euros from MOL.
Hungary's government, which is MOL's largest shareholder, also said Wednesday that Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi would not attend a high-level summit Thursday in Croatia in response to Croatia's actions.
