SAN FRANCISCO - Hewlett-Packard, helped by sales gains in Europe and emerging markets, has reclaimed the title of world's biggest personal-computer maker after trailing behind Dell for three years.
Hewlett-Packard's market share increased 1.2 percentage points in the third quarter to 16.3 per cent worldwide, says market researcher Gartner.
Dell slid to 16.1 per cent on its slowest growth ever.
The ascent follows nine months of improving market share at Hewlett-Packard as chief executive Mark Hurd accelerated international PC sales and scored gains in the US.
Dell's domestic sales tumbled while it worked to boost PC performance.
