Two of New Zealand's most prominent farming leaders, John Storey and John Perriam, have received Queen's Birthday Honours.
Mr Storey, of Te Awamutu, has been a key figure in the dairy industry for a quarter of a century. He has been made an officer of the NZ Order of Merit.
Mr Storey has been a director of the New Zealand Dairy Group since 1979, chairman since 1992 and a director of the Dairy Board since 1993. He was appointed a director of the Bank of NZ in 1994 and was at one stage president of the Institute of Directors.
Mr Perriam, of Cromwell, has been a leading figure in the development of the fine wool industry. He is a member of the NZ Order of Merit.
He presided over the expansion of the Otago Merino Breeders Association into Merino NZ, which he chairs. Merino NZ administers the fine-wool industry.
