Building consents in the Bay continue to reach new levels, records show.
Data from Priority One reveal for the seven months to July this year, Tauranga City Council and the Western Bay of Plenty District Council issued the highest value of consents since its records began in 2003.
Priority One projects manager Annie Hill said consents for the combined sub-region were valued at $604.5 million for the seven-month period, 45 per cent more than the previous high recorded in 2004.
"In terms of the comparison between the value of consents issued year to date in 2015 and 2016, Tauranga City Council is tracking at 34 per cent higher than at the same time last year.
"Western Bay is a massive 94 per cent ahead of the same time last year, and the combined Western Bay sub-region is tracking at 45 per cent higher for the seven-month period than in 2015," she said.
