The car collection of embattled lawyer Barry Hart went under the hammer today, with four elated buyers driving away with only slightly dented wallets.
First up was a never-driven 2011Ferrari California, which Hart had not had time to register before it was seized by GE Finance in August.
The 4.3-litre convertible retails at around $450,000 but was sold to a casually dressed Kiwi man for $275,000.
Asked if he was happy with the purchase, the man smiled and motioned to his partner: "She is, it's hers.''
A 2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Cabriolet sold for $52,500 and Tauranga-based real estate agent Callum Duncanson grabbed a cream 1969 MGB Coupe for $9500.
A 1958 Wolseley 6/90, a former police car with original siren and signage, sold online for $6100.
The cars were seized from Hart's Auckland residence after he failed to settle a $1.5 million debt to GE Finance. Each was sold with a warning that buyers would need to take
steps under the Personal Securities Act to discharge the previous registration.
