As a part of the Auckland Tourism Events & Economic Development (ATEED) Techweek coming up in May, over 1,000 delegates will meet for the inaugural Magnify Conference.
Sponsored by Air New Zealand, Magnify is a Virtual and Augmented Reality summit which will feature interactive workshops, panel discussions, and demonstrations of the latest immersive technologies.
Speakers include Catherine Patterson of Y&R New York, renowned digital imaging expert Barry Sandrew, and prestigious stunt director Guy Norris of Mad Max fame.
Virtual and Augmented Reality are projected to be a $100 billion dollar industry within 10 years. With Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive already on the market and Sony's Playstation VR coming soon, immersive technologies are already disrupting video game and film industry in a massive way.
Further uses of VR and AR could prove transformative for multiple industries including social media, tourism, medicine and real estate.
