General Electric Co expects its profit to rise "at least" 10 per cent in 2008, led by gains in its infrastructure business, even with a slowing US economy, Chairman and Chief Executive Jeff Immelt said on Tuesday.
The second-largest US company by market capitalisation expected to report 2008 profit of at least US$2.42 ($3.16) per share. Analysts, on average, had expected US$2.49 per share, according to Reuters Estimates.
GE, which makes products ranging from jet engines to light bulbs, estimated 2007 profits of US$2.19 to US$2.21 per share.
