KEY POINTS:
The output of the former Carter Holt Harvey forests sold to Hancock Timber Resource by Graeme Hart is expected to nearly double by 2019.
The decision sheet from the Overseas Investment Office says the forestry estate will produce about 2.9 million tonnes of wood this year, rising to 5.6 million tonnes in 2019.
It also says public access to the forests will increase under the new owners, especially on the Te Araroa walkway.
