Some forest owners are accusing the Government of "the largest private property theft" in New Zealand, for taking carbon credits under the Kyoto Protocol to combat climate change.
The newly formed Kyoto Forest Owners Association represents forest owners seeking payment for the "stolen" credits.
"Kyoto forest owners will take whatever action is necessary to ensure they receive equity in this matter," said spokesman Roger Dickie.
