Fonterra's joint venture with Nestle in Brazil is to build a new plant in northeast of Brazil to boost yoghurt output.
The joint venture, Dairy Partners America, will build the plant at Nestle's Feria de Santa site in the State of Bahia, which has a population of around 50 million.
DPA chief executive Juan Carlos Pestana said the investment would help tap the growing appetite for fresh and cultured products.
