Good weather over the last month has further boosted the apple crop, Pipfruit NZ said.
After four weeks of perfect apple growing weather, the $700 million record crop is looking good in terms of fruit size, quality and flavour, Pipfruit NZ chief executive Alan Pollard said New Zealand.
"Global demand is for bigger apples and over this past month New Zealand's apples have been feeding off the perfect growing conditions with plenty of sunshine," he said in a statement.
Coastal sea breezes during the night have kept apples cool and sunny and warm temperatures in the mid to high 20s have also benefited the crop.
In January, Pipfruit NZ said New Zealand would produce a record export crop this season worth about $700-million but said it expected relatively cool spring conditions would mean slightly smaller apples.
