Palmerston North-based mail order retailer EziBuy has broadened its operation across the Tasman by buying Australia's largest catalogue customer database.
EziBuy has bought the database component of Australian retail giant Coles Myer's Myer Direct, which holds more than 2 million customers.
EziBuy said the database purchase - for an undisclosed sum - would allow the company to double its business in Australia over the next two to three years.
The privately owned company has about 200,000 active customers on each side of the Tasman and combined sales of more than $100 million a year.
EziBuy has had a presence in Australia since the early 1990s, when it established a joint venture with the mail order company Innovations.
