KEY POINTS:
Macquarie Airports Management Ltd (MAp) says traffic at its four airports fell last month as air travel was hit hard by the slowing global economy.
MAp said traffic in December 2008 compared with the corresponding month the prior year fell by 0.8 per cent at Sydney Airport.
It tumbled by 9.8 per cent at Copenhagen Airport, and dropped by 9.0 per cent at Brussels Airport, and slumped 12.7 per cent at Bristol Airport in the United Kingdom. "December traffic at our airports continued to be impacted by the difficult external environment," MAp chief executive Kerrie Mather said.
For 2008 as a whole, however, traffic at all four airports rose, said Mather.
