The booming job market looks set to remain strong over the next three months, a Manpower Employment Outlook Survey shows.
Out of 19 countries surveyed by the multinational recruitment agency, New Zealand employers were the most optimistic.
A poll of 764 New Zealand employers found 32 per cent expected their workforce to grow over the fourth quarter of 2004. Another 64 per cent said they expected no change, with just 3 per cent predicting their staff numbers would drop.
That gives New Zealand a positive net employment outlook of 29 per cent. By comparison, Australia had a positive net employment outlook of 17 per cent.
The US outlook was 21 per cent and the UK was 18 per cent.
Across New Zealand, the outlook remained stable compared with the previous quarter. The net employment outlook for the July to September quarter was 30 per cent.
For the first time, the Manpower survey has broken down its New Zealand results by region.
The survey found that Auckland employers were the most optimistic, with a net employment outlook of 37 per cent compared with 25 per cent in Wellington and 23 per cent in Christchurch.
The more than 35,000 employers are surveyed globally. It is the only projective global quarterly survey that analyses employment trends of employers in public and private organisations.
