A leading financial adviser accused of a road rage hit-and-run incident can be named for the first time.
Guy Hallwright works for the investment banking firm Forsyth Barr and is charged with reckless disregard to the safety of another.
He denies the charge.
He has previously appeared at the Auckland District Court where his lawyer David Reece argued that his client should receive name suppression because two of his family members have serious health issues which could worsen if his client's name is publicly known.
Hallwright lost name suppression in the district court and took an appeal to the High Court in Auckland however Justice Geoffrey Venning found in favour of the police and media who opposed name suppression.
The details surrounding the medical conditions of Hallwright's family members and their names have been suppressed.
The incident is alleged to have happened outside Galbraith'S Bar on Auckland's Mt Eden Road after words and hand gestures were exchanged by two drivers. One of the drivers is alleged to be Hallwright.
Hallwright is accused of running over the other driver who had left his car after the inital altercation. He then allegedly fled the scene before calling police. The alleged victim suffered two broken legs and a shattered ankle according to court documents.
