A wealth of banking experience is being brought to the new Kiwibank board, says NZ Post chairman Dr Ross Armstrong.
Announced yesterday, it includes three external directors who have major banking experience in New Zealand and Australia.
One is Christchurch man Richard Westlake, former chief executive of the old Trust Bank Canterbury and general manager of mortgages with the Housing Corporation.
He has also worked for Lloyds, Chase-NBA and Barclays banks.
Wellington's Ian Fitzgerald established Burleigh Evatt, a firm specialising in the ownership and management of several private companies.
He managed the establishment of Industry NZ for the Ministry of Economic Development, and has worked for Westpac and the Prime Minister's office.
The third is Adrienne Cleland, of Palmerston North. The registrar at Massey University, she has worked as a private consultant in the banking and financial sectors.
They will join chairman Jim Bolger, Dr Armstrong, NZ Post chief executive Elmar Toime and existing NZ Post board members Linda Robertson, Syd Bradley and James Ogden.
