KEY POINTS:
Many New Zealand viewers will remember the days of test patterns on our television screens - appearing immediately after the sugary-sweet 'Goodnight Kiwi' message at around 11pm each night.
Well, baby-boomers who long for the excitement of those riveting test patterns can get their fix once again this week - courtesy of the Reserve Bank's website.
So, what's it all about?
The Reserve Bank is planning, for the first time this week, to deliver a live webcast of Dr Bollard's Monetary Policy Statement at 9.00 this Thursday morning.
Internet users are able to test, in advance, whether they can receive Thursday's webcast, by logging on to the Reserve Bank website and clicking on the 'Webcast Test Connection' link.
If you do this, you are rewarded not by a still of Dr Bollard in typical stoic pose, but rather by a good old-fashioned test pattern, so you can make sure you'll be getting the good Doctor in the correct hues of green, red, blue etc on Thursday.
Although, based on previous experience, it's hard to imagine Dr Bollard's suit - if not the tenor of his comments - will be anything other than a dull shade of grey.
