The new boss of Kiwibank has been found within the state-owned company's own ranks.
Kiwibank chairman Jim Bolger today named the chief executive as Paul Brock, who will move into the role immediately, with support until the end of September from departing former head Sam Knowles.
Brock was part of the original team that created Kiwibank in 2002. Key positions he held in the bank included general manager of marketing and most recently general manager of savings and transactions. He also stepped into the role of acting chief executive during the past few years.
Brock was chosen from a field of high quality national and international applicants, Bolger said.
"Paul has played a key part in Kiwibank's success since its creation and has the skill and leadership which will help the bank go from strength to strength and help continue to change the shape of banking in New Zealand.
"It is a tribute to the development of the senior management under Sam Knowles that the board of Kiwibank was able with confidence to appoint a top quality internal candidate to drive the next phase of the bank's growth," Bolger said.
Brock is married with four sons. He is an enthusiastic outdoor sportsman, enjoying skiing, diving, hunting and fishing.
