BRUSSELS - The European Central Bank says it has decided to intervene in bond markets as part of the EU's euro defence package.
The bank said Monday that the action is designed "to ensure depth and liquidity in those market segments which are dysfunctional."
The scope of the intervention will be determined by the bank's governing council.
Monetary policy stance will not be affected, the bank said in a statement.
