Pre-decimal coin images of the tui and kowhai are making a comeback on a New Zealand Post limited edition commemorative coin to mark the Reserve Bank's 75th anniversary.
The $1 denomination silver nickel coin uses the classic tui and kowhai design of the one penny coin, which was removed from circulation with the introduction of decimal currency in 1967.
The coin, issued today, will retail for $32.50c.
