Forty-four-year-old Australian Jenny Fagg became arguably the most powerful woman in New Zealand business yesterday, taking over from Graham Hodges as chief executive and managing director of ANZ National Bank.
Fagg, described by ANZ National chairman Sir Dryden Spring as "one of ANZ Group's most talented executives", replaces Hodges after just under a year with the country's biggest bank.
Hodges, chief executive of ANZ National since 2005, has been appointed deputy chief executive at Melbourne-based parent ANZ Banking Group. He takes over from Bob Edgar.
Fagg is currently ANZ National deputy chief executive and also managing director of the bank's retail division, a position she has held since moving across the Tasman in May last year. Neither she nor Hodges were available for comment yesterday.
