New Zealand's economy may be buoyed next year by spending related to the rebuilding after the earthquake in Christchurch, Finance Minister Bill English said in Parliament yesterday.
However, the slowdown of activity in the province may lower gross domestic product in the next two or three months, he said.
English reiterated that the "early estimates" of the cost of the earthquake are around $4 billion.
