Foodstuffs (Auckland) is to close its Whangarei operation in February with the loss of 64 jobs.
The operation comprises a Foodstuffs distribution centre and a Gilmours warehouse and Cash n Carry.
Managing director Tony Carter says all staff will be offered job options elsewhere in the company, given help finding work in other companies or paid compensation.
He says Foodstuffs remains committed to its Northland business and Gilmours will continue to provide a full service to its customers in the region. Foodstuffs runs the New World and Pak 'N Save supermarkets.
