Sydney staff of United Airlines are meeting around now to discuss the axeing of 100 jobs in Sydney and Melbourne.
The airline says is out-sourcing reservations and customer service functions, including ground handling, to improve competitiveness.
It says it will ask the two companies who will be doing the work to hire those affected by the changes.
Michael Flynn from the Australian Services Union has condemned the cuts, and says staff are distressed and angry.
He says they will consider industrial action at today's meeting:
"And at that meeting they'll make decisions about whether they will continue to allow United Airlines to fly out of Sydney," he said.
"If workers' jobs are going to be destroyed like this, then I suppose we'll have to consider a range of options and that will include working with other people to protect these workers' jobs."
