KEY POINTS:
The rift between the unions representing Air New Zealand staff is widening.
The Service and Food Workers Union is accusing the airline of offering baggage handlers and check in staff what amounts to a $3,000 bribe if they agree to cuts in their pay and conditions.
Secretary Jill Ovens says the offer is available only to those who agree to stay with Air New Zealand under reduced pay and conditions negotiated in a deal with the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union.
She says to get the payment airport service workers would have to become EPMU members or agree to an individual employment agreement.
Ms Ovens says even if the workers give in to Air New Zealand's demands, there is no guarantee the airline will not go ahead and outsource at a later date. The service workers are planning a protest today.
