The Business faculty at AUT has announced two senior appointments today.
Dr Cristel Antonia Russell has been appointed as Professor of Marketing Communications.
A native of France, Professor Russell comes to AUT from San Diego State University where she has spent the past seven years.
Her area of special expertise involves consumer response to marketing communications.
In her research she looks into the synergy between advertising, entertainment, marketing and interactive television.
"By living in the shadow of Hollywood in Southern California, I better understand the entertainment world and its interconnections with marketing and advertising," she says.
The other position is Professor of Work and Employment, which has been filled by Dr Erling Rasmussen.
Professor Rasmussen is the editor of New Zealand Journal of Employment Relations and is the New Zealand director of the Cranet survey, the world's largest survey of human resource practices, which includes 34 countries.
He comes to AUT from the University of Auckland where he was a Senior Lecturer in Management and Employment Relations.
Professor Rasmussen has a special interest in the effects of public policy changes across the labour market and on individuals.
As a policy advisor to the Department of Labour, he developed the labour market monitoring programme and advised on legislation and policy.
He has worked in the private sector in the UK and he has been an academic researcher in Australia, Italy and Denmark.
