More jobs are going, this time at waste management company Transpacific Industries.
The company has announced 200 jobs will be axed in New Zealand and Australia.
First Union general secretary Robert Reid says the announcement in Australia today has come as a surprise.
"Transpacific have not approached members of our union before this announcement, we're very annoyed about that.
"We'll be on the phone to them first thing on Monday morning to see what the situation is and how many of the New Zealand staff they are intending to make redundant."
