Telecom is changing its multibillion-dollar network maintenance contracts, creating uncertainty for about 900 workers.
Telecom's network unit Chorus will next week sign 10-year contracts worth $3 billion which provide work for existing contractors Transfield Services and Downer EDi Engineering and new entrant Visionstream.
Transfield is losing north and west Auckland to Visionstream.
Transfield told 460 workers their jobs would be disestablished.
