KEY POINTS:
Australian auto parts company Tristar is facing fines and possible compensation payouts after being taken to court by the federal workplace watchdog, accused of trying to avoid paying redundancies to 26 staff.
The Office of Workplace Services (OWS) today said it had launched action in the Federal Court against Tristar, the car parts maker where workers agitating for payout entitlements have been turning up to a workplace with no work.
The action, alleging breaches of workplace laws and seeking the payment of entitlements, is a signal the long-running dispute may be heading towards a resolution.
