Seventeen jobs will be lost in a shake-up at Wel Networks Hamilton call centre.
Operations manager Russell Shaw said after receiving staff feedback the company had revised its original plans, in which five more full-time jobs were at stake.
Wel Networks would continue to dispatch maintenance staff from a phone desk at its Hamilton base, and invoicing and other administrative jobs would also remain in the city.
Incoming calls would now be answered by Call Care Answer Services, a contracted company based in Blenheim.
Wel Networks employs 22 staff at the Hamilton call centre. One full-time and 16 part-time jobs will go by the end of October.
Mr Shaw said four staff had plans to leave prior to the changes. The other 13 staff members would be offered full redundancy, he said. The decision came down to economies of scale.
