Online jobs website Seek says the number of employment advertisements rose 4 per cent in the last year and chief executive, general manager, consulting and strategy and mining, resources and energy were some of the strongest categories.
But the largest number of opportunities remain in IT and trades and services industries.
Janet Faulding, Seek New Zealand general manager, said 220,000 jobs were advertised on www.seek.co.nz since January and all was pointing to a positive finish for the job market as the year comes to an end.
In October, 22,500 jobs were advertised, 555 more than September, she said.
"We've seen small fluctuations over the last 10 months but encouragingly, we are tracking ahead of 2012 year-to-date, suggesting that we will log positive growth across the year by the end of December," she said.
