Expect to pay more for almost every consumer item in the months ahead.
Importers say they're facing long delays and heavy costs as the Ports of Auckland dispute drags on.
Importers' Institute secretary Daniel Silva says his members are paying millions to shift freight around the country.
"You can think about normal goods like clothing or footwear and you can also think about electronics and computers. All that stuff is imported. And all of it at the moment is being delayed by the strike. There will be price increases because these costs have to be recovered."
Daniel Silva says supply chains are already being delayed by up to 2 weeks, and shortages are starting to emerge.
