Rob Jamieson is set to replace Roger Sutton as the new chief executive of Orion, the company announced today.
Sutton left the role to take up the reins at the Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority where he is chief executive, earlier this year.
Jamieson has worked for Orion for the past 17 years, most recently as general manager of commercial.
Orion's chairman Craig Boyce said the lines company was in a unique situation following the Christchurch earthquakes, and needed someone who would lead the company's distribution network in the coming years.
"There will also be a strong focus on employee wellbeing and safety following the special efforts of Orion staff to reconnect power to homes and businesses in Christchurch, after each of those earthquakes, in challenging circumstances," a statement from the company said.
