Andrew Bell of Andiamo has been appointed to operate the new Cornwall Park Cafe and the former Cornwall Park Restaurant, also known as the Kiosk, which has been closed for many months.
The new cafe cost almost $1 million to build, will seat 40 to 50 people and opens soon. The Kiosk is near Huia Cottage.
Michael Ayrton, Cornwall Park Trust Board park director, announced Bell's appointment and said the cafe has been painted and landscaped, and work has started on the lessee's fit-out.
Neither dining area is open at the moment, prompting one Herald reader to complain that although it was spring and many people visited, there was still nowhere to eat.
Ayrton said that would change soon.
