KEY POINTS:
New Zealand has a relatively narrow gap between low and highly-paid workers, a new survey says.
In the Hay Global Pays report, New Zealand was 48th, with senior managers earning on average 3.3 times the average worker.
Australia was 51st with a pay gap of 3.2.
The gap is calcalated by dividing the national median senior manager's wage by the average wage of an employee.
Hay Global, an employment consultancy, said the gap reflected skill shortages.
China had the biggest wage gap at 11.8.
