KEY POINTS:
The Port of Napier is being told its first obligation should be offering employment to locals, after offering a contract to an out-of-town company.
The Maritime Union says 25 permanent and 60 casual jobs at Hawke's Bay Stevedoring are now in jeopardy.
Spokesman Trevor Hansen says the union will meet with Port officials today. He says it is unfair to employees when companies change contracts.
Trevor Hansen says national strike action will be considered if a resolution can not be reached.
