The Selwyn Foundation has made Garry Smith its CEO. Currently CEO of Auckland District Health Board, Smith succeeds Rev Duncan Macdonald, who has retired as head of this leading not-for-profit provider of aged care services.
Andrew Hooker has been appointed senior manager Wireless Australasia for ZTE Corporation, based in Melbourne. Hooker was previously the business manager for mobile products at Gen-i.
The Bank of New Zealand has appointed Pierre Tohe, of Waikato descent, as head of Maori business. The new role bolsters a relationship between BNZ and Maori that has provided a wide range of funding and financial advice for Maori business ventures, including agribusiness, commercial property and geothermal infrastructure. The BNZ says this appointment represents the formalisation of its culture of support for Maori business. Te Puni Kokiri estimates that the total asset base of the Maori economy stood at $36.9 billion in 2010.
