It's an example of the innovation Kiwis can bring to the table, but Straker said it's important people pursue ways to bring those dreams to fruition.
"You have to innovate ... then decide how you're going to make that happen. Get people in your organisations who can drive that change," he said.
Savvy Millennial founder Savannah Peterson said turning innovative ideas into a reality started with creating "a safe space for ideas" in the workplace, for every staff member regardless of rank.
Straker said people needed to look at the technologies that would affect their business, and judge how long they had before that effect would come into play. That then gave people a timeline to work on.
John Paul Group co founder Linda Jenkinson challenged members of the audience to invest their savings in people and ideas.
"The time is now that you can build billion-dollar companies out of New Zealand," she said.
Jenkinson did not think Kiwis had any problem coming up with innovative ideas, but "I think it's about the process of how do you take that idea to reality".
Straker said New Zealand did not have the size to be a "big player", so had to use innovation to get there.
Peterson said people needed to lift one another up and talk about each other's business' strengths.
"Use that camaraderie to help amplify the message as well."
