There's been a meeting in London this morning between various union and maritime workers groups over the dispute at Ports of Auckland.
President of the International Transport Workers Federation, Paddy Crumlin, says they're concerned about what's going on in Auckland as New Zealand previously had a high reputation for safety and productivity and stability.
"We've determined, unless they change their mind, we're going to declare Auckland a port of convenience which give it special attention both politically and industrially, and financially I guess,'' he told Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking.
Mr Crumlin says casualising the workforce matches worst practice in the world, not best practice.
"We expect all of the stakeholders to discharge their responsibility to make a safe and efficient international global industry in acceptable ways and the way Auckland Ports are going on isn't acceptable.''
