Fewer employers are seeking advice on how to let staff go, according to the Northern Employers and Manufacturers Association.
"Earlier in the year the EMA's AdviceLine was inundated with inquiries on how to manage restructuring and redundancy," David Lowe, the association's employment services manager, said.
Fewer calls were now being made as it appears most employers have cut their cloth for the recession.
