KEY POINTS:
Labour costs rose 3.7 per cent in the year to the June 2008 quarter, Statistics New Zealand said yesterday.
A breakdown showed salary and wage rates, including overtime, rose 3.5 per cent and non-labour costs rose 4.1 per cent.
The driver in the non-wage labour costs was a 4.7 per cent increase in annual leave and statutory holidays and a 4.7 per cent increase in accident insurance costs.
Employer superannuation costs rose 2.7 per cent in the year to the June quarter, following a rise of 4.2 per cent in the year to the June 2007 quarter.
