Australia is no longer a haven for job-hunting kiwis, new data shows.
Job advertisements across the Tasman have fallen by over 50 per cent in the last 12 months, according to figures released today.
A Job Index survey of 190,000 job ads in Australia shows another drop of 4.32 per cent in May, although the decline is less than than in previous months.
New South Wales has recorded the biggest drop.
Ads for full-time positions have fallen but there has also been a rise in ads for part-time and temporary work.
Robert Olivier of Olivier Group, who conducted the survey, says there are signs of improvement in some sectors.
"Banking and finance have been down since last January, IT's been down, accounting's been down," he said.
"They're bottoming, whereas engineering and mining only really started hurting early this year because of commodities falling off."
